Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located?

Conveniently located in the Cooper/Young Historic District in Midtown Memphis for in person sessions and all services are available from the comfort of your own space with online options for individual and group sessions.

What happens during the first appointment?

I will find out more about you and your journey for recovery - we will probably not talk about any details of traumatic events during this first visit.  You will be able to talk about what happened to you when you are ready, but, probably not in the first session.  I will be asking more informational questions to learn more about you and what your life experiences in general have been.

How often do we meet?

Weekly for both group and individual.  Some people do bi-weekly when they are getting ready to complete or graduate from therapy. Yes - ask me about graduating from therapy - that’s the goal.

What can I expect to happen during our time together?

Words like laid back and casual are good descriptors for sessions with me.  I don’t use jargon or clinical slang and try to find humor as we usually talk about some deep and serious and sensative topics.  Yeah, I cuss too.  Online sessions will have my little dog in the room and asleep on the couch in full view.  People say that talking to me is like talking to a close friend.  Plus the cussing

What kind of results can I expect from therapy?

I will give you the tools to measure how your particular set of reactions/responses are improving.  You will have a graph too that shows the arrow declining each week as your problems with sleep, trust, control begin to resolve.  These are tools proven to work (insert link to research) for a lifetime and don’t need to be repeated.

How long does therapy with me take?

We will make a plan together but usually once someone is ready, the tough trauma focused sessions last for 3 months and we evaluate your progress at that time.  Some people graduate in 4 months and some people want therapy to last longer.  It all depends on what your journey looks like, ya know?

What is your availability?

Depends on day, time and location of your session.  I see people one day a week and often have a waiting list.  Other options are online with more availability.  Group sessions are for 3 months and have ongoing start dates.  I am glad to work with preferences in scheduling if I have the openings.

Do you take insurance?

I am considered Out of Network with insurance companies other than Workers Compensation companies like Sedgwick and Corvel Corporation.

What is your rate?

I charge everyone the same rate as I charge Workers Compensation which is subject to change.

Trauma Assessment - $220

Individual therapy -      $180

Group therapy - $95

Reimbursement from your insurance depends on your specific policy.
